The 8000 hours of hands on training is sometimes not enough for you to be able to equip yourself with all the technicalities that you need to know about being an electrician. Most people think that after they’re done with the journeyman electrician training and they get their certificate they can easily get a job. Even though there are so many electrician jobs available you have to realize that there are so many electricians looking for jobs as well that is why you need to make sure you have an advantage over them.

Another option is to go the nearest IBEW union hall so that you can apply as an apprentice or try UAW as well. You can also try to check the companies in your area if they are hiring electricians. You can start with large manufacturing companies and the good thing about being exposed to these large companies is the knowledge that you can gain when you start working for them. If you cannot get a job from these large manufacturing plants you can try the smaller companies. As long as you are able to apply what you learned during your electrician training course you would definitely be exposed to all the things that you need to know about being an electrician.

One thing that you should take advantage of is the presence of baby boomers that can help you in honing your craft. These people would be willing to teach you all the things that you need to know and all you need to do is to apply them. These people are just waiting for their retirement and most of them would be excited to pass all the knowledge and the experience that they gained to the next generation.
