How to Install Kitchen Wall Tiles

October 11, 2010 – If you were wondering if your summer house needed any improvements, maybe it is a good time to change the look of the kitchen.  Kitchen plans do not need to be as complicated as you read in some home magazines.  If you pride yourself in your handyman abilities, here is a task for you.  Instead of the same boring white walls, why not install kitchen tiles?  If you have never installed a kitchen wall tile before in your life, don’t panic, it is easier than it sounds.  In this article you will find out how to do the complete installation wall tiles on your kitchen wall.

First, you should do some simple calculations.  Measure the kitchen wall you want to tile.  Divide the measurement of the wall with the measurement of the tiles you plan to get to see how many tiles you will require.  Get a few extra tiles in case any break on accident.  You will need some spacers, an adhesive, wet towel, and a trowel.  Your first step will be to layout where you want the tiles to go.  It is ok to draw on the wall with a large leveler.  Make sure everything is in straight lines, accounting for wall sockets as well.

Then with the trowel, begin to put the adhesive on the first layer of the wall.  Press the first tile onto it in the corner.  Then place spacers evenly all around it.  Continue to do this all the way down the line till you have finished the row.  Then start on the next one.  You may need to cut some tiles in between to make it fit.  The key to this project is taking your time and making sure each tile is flush with the one beside it.  With care and patient work you should be looking at a masterpiece by evening.
